NEW CHAMPION - CH. MERRIBOX LOVE STRUCK
Betty makes Breed History here in the UK by being the youngest Champion ever to be made up
at 12 months 5 days breaking the previous record set back in 1911.

I have not known a time as far back as I can remember that a Boxer has not been part of my life. My Grandmother always had a Boxer or two around the house as I was growing up - apparently I learned to walk holding onto the faithful 'Sparky' a huge red and white male dog from Wardrobes breeding.

I showed my first Boxer in 1990 and entered my first Championship show - the Scottish Kennel Club (August) in 1993.

At the time I was studying at University in Aberdeen and dog shows had to take a back seat. However, during the summer holidays I always went to a dog kennel or stable to earn some money for term time. I worked one summer at a small Bernese Mountain Dog kennel in Cambridgeshire. Another great passion - horses, took me to Arab stables in Sweden and a very happy nine month holiday in the Algarve in Portugal working at a riding school and Lusitano Stud Stables. It was during one of these summer work experience holidays that I had the opportunity to move to the South West of England and work with a small Boxer kennel and Boxer rescue.

It was also around this time that another door of opportunity opened for me when I wanted to rekindle another passion. I had always loved the Great Dane and as a child I used to walk for a neighbour their two Great Danes females - a blue and a fawn with my grandmother's Boxer. When I was living in Devon I had the urge to buy one as a pet and I approached Laurence Morgan-Evans of the Vanmore Great Danes for a puppy at Crufts when his Ch. Vanmore Hopelessly in Love won Best of Breed in 1996. That day a great friendship began and he and his partner Bill have been my very best friends ever since. At the time he offered me Ch. Clausentum Tyson at Vanmore as a six month old puppy but as I really wanted a bitch I turned him down, my loss - he became joint Top Winning dog in 1998.

In the years that I have known Laurence I have found him to be an exceptional breeder. He keeps to type, is never swayed by the latest fashion and winning dog - quietly doing his own thing and breeding for type, health and temperament and always coming out with beautiful stock. I have been extremely lucky in that Laurence has trusted me to handle many of his top winning Great Danes. My first ever CC was won with Ch. Vanmore Hopelessly in Love. I have won many CC's, RCC's, Best Puppy's and Group Placings for Laurence with such famous Danes as Ch. Vanmore Hopelessly in Love and Pat Buttle's Ch. Vanmore Brilliant Disguise at Acuna and her two daughters Ch. Vanmore Inca Legand from Acuna and Vanmore Dream Maker (1 CC & BOB & 3 RCC's), Ch. Vanmore Checkmate, Mickalou Here We Go Again at Vanmore, Ch. Vanmore Fantastic, Ch. Clausentum Tyson at Vanmore, Hotpoints Regal Blue Touch at Vanmore (Import Norway) and Vanmore Bismark (pictured above as a puppy).

Just before Christmas 2004 my partner Mark Denman and I recieved from Laurence the very beautiful Vanmore In the Wings with Merribox.
